Tennessee man's massive gun collection goes to auction

SHELBYVILLE (WATE) – A Tennessee man's massive gun collection is going on the auction block.

Bill Hornady's 600 gun collection includes new and old guns. Some are highly collectible, like a Luger used by the Nazis in World War II.

Hornady passed away suddenly several months ago.

He once owned a pawn shop in Shelbyville, which is where he acquired some of his guns after the business closed.

His wife said while he was fascinated with the knowledge of his guns and rifles, his real interest was people.

"He loved loving people," said wife Judy Hornady. "He was more interested in discipling people and counseling people really than he was in the sales, especially in the last years of his life."

The gun auction will take place Friday and Saturday at the Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville. Each day begins with a preview at 7 a.m., followed by the auction at 9 a.m.
