Carson-Newman soccer to play for national title


EVANS, Ga. (WATE) - The Carson-Newman men's soccer team will play for the NCAA Div. II national title after beating Simon Fraser 3-2 on Thursday night.

Trailing 1-0, the Eagles tied the game on a goal by Ross Frame at 49:47. 

Carson-Newman took a 2-1 lead at 59:04 when Sindre Welo scored on a shot through the goal keeper's legs from 10-yards out.

SFU tied the game 2-2 on a goal by Juan Sanchez at 63:61, but the Eagles got the game winner at 88:49 on a goal by Joao Pedro Dowsley.

The win moves Carson-Newman in the national title game Saturday against Southern New Hampshire.
