KNOXVILLE (WATE) - While snow and ice pile up to our west, here in East Tennessee we are on the warm side of this huge system.
The 6 Storm Steam says that means we will continue to get rain and thunder instead of ice. Heavy downpours could lead to localized flooding and reduced visibility.
One to three inches of rain will accumulate across East Tennessee and Southern Kentucky Friday.
Rain ends late Friday with lows in the upper 30s. We could see a brief rain and snow mix on the plateau before the rain totally ends.
On Saturday, we are dry, but it's chilly. Highs will be in the mid 40s.
Rain moves in again on Sunday and Monday with an additional two to four inches expected. Highs will be near 50 degrees with lows around 40 degrees.
Much colder air arrives Tuesday, but that's the same time that the moisture is moving out. We could see the rain end in some light snow or snow flurries early Tuesday morning.
