KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A deputy directing traffic during the Halls Christmas parade Saturday night was injured after he was struck by a car.

It happened near Beaver Dam Baptist Church during the Halls Christmas parade just before 6:30 p.m.

According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, "Jim" Buhl, a Knox County Sheriff's reserve officer, was directing traffic when he was hit by a Kia Sorrento driven by a 38-year-old woman.

The driver told investigators that she was told to turn and was focused on what one officer told her that she didn't see the Buhl directing traffic.

The woman struck Buhl with her left front fender, and he fell and struck his head on the pavement. Buhl was taken to UT Medical Center with a head injury. He was knocked unconscious, but was responsive when he was taken away by ambulance.

No charges will be filed.

As of Sunday, Buhl was treated and released from the hospital.
