Knoxville Christian School names courts after Vol Legends

KNOXVILLE (WATE)- As the University of Tennessee's all time leading scorer, Allan Houston already has his name memorialized at Thompson Boling Arena.

But now, he and his dad-former Vol Head Coach-Wade Houston, have their legacy memorialized at a smaller Knoxville venue.

Knoxville Christian School dedicated their brand new basketball courts to the Houston family on Monday to promote education, faith and athletics.

"To have your name up at the [University of Tennessee], it's important, because it shows you had a gift and your gift was appreciated," said Allan. "I think here, it's different because it's what your name means holistically and not just what I was able to do on the basketball court. It's not what my name means,  it's what my father's name and my family's name means and that to me is eternal."

Allan built a relationship with a board member from Knoxville Christian School and has been in contact with the school throughout the construction process.

The school voted to name the courts after the Houston's because they say the Houston family represents all that Knoxville Christian School is trying to accomplish.

"The mission of the Knoxville Christian School is right in line with our goals, in giving back to the community and working with young people to try and give them positive role models," said Wade.
