RUTLEDGE (WATE) - Grainger County commissioners voted to fund repairs to the county's jail on Monday evening.

The vote approved $165,000 in repairs. It was passed 15-0.

Chief Deputy Charles Biddle of the Grainger County Sheriff's Department tells us the money will be used to buy security cameras, put up a fence around the jail's perimeter, and upgrade the jail's security system.

The vote comes after three inmates managed to escape from the jail last month, prompting security concerns.

The escaped inmates have since been recaptured.

The commission had previously approved spending around $64,000 to fix broken locks throughout the jail.
