TELLICO PLAINS (WATE) - The wife of a murdered Monroe County man was arrested Tuesday in connection with his death.  Her brother is also facing charges for the crime.

The Monroe County Sheriff Department says Michael Strickland was found shot to death in his garage on Oct. 11.

After two months of investigating, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Monroe Co. deputies say Marie Strickland, Michael's wife, killed him, and that her brother, Chris Smallin, was an accessory after the murder.  Officials say Smallin disposed of evidence of the crime.

At the time of Michael Strickland's death, Marie Strickland told 6 News she was not home when her husband was killed.

Officials say Marie Strickland is now being charged with first degree murder.  Her brother is charged with accessory after the fact and destruction of evidence.

The siblings were booked in the Monroe County Jail on Tuesday morning.
