3 Knox and Sevier County schools win $25,000 grants from U.S. Cellular

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Three Knox County and Sevier County schools each received $25,000 grants Tuesday after being selected as winners in U.S. Cellular's Calling All Communities campaign.

Brickey McCloud Elementary and Powell Elementary schools in Knox County and Seymour Intermediate School in Sevier County garnered the most community votes and will use the grants as they wish to enhance their educational experience.

"I want to thank U.S. Cellular for its investment and commitment to supporting K-12 education in Tennessee and across the nation," Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam said. "These schools and their teachers, parents and community supporters should be proud of the work they have done to earn this recognition, and I know they will put this money to good use."

Twenty winners were selected across the country, which were revealed in a video posted on U.S. Cellular's website.
