Knox County Criminal Court Clerk supervisor resigns

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knox County's Criminal Court Clerk supervisor resigned Tuesday, according to Criminal Court Clerk Joy McCroskey.

April Mayes submitted her resignation from the supervisor position amidst claims that incorrect data had been entered into the court computer system, leading to wrongful arrests due to warrants issued by mistake.

In October, McCroskey told commissioners her office handled around 70,000 cases last year, and only one percent were affected by those problems.
