KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was injured when his car crashed head-on into a garbage truck Wednesday morning.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says Lloyd Carroll, 48, was driving a 2011 Stratus around 9:40 a.m. on Loyston Road near Tolson Lane.

Officers say Carroll's vehicle crossed to the left of the center lane and hit a Tri-County Sanitation truck head on.

Carroll had to be cut from the vehicle and was airlifted to UT Medical Center by Lifestar. He was alone in the vehicle and was wearing a seat belt.

Two people in the truck were not hurt.
