KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The grass will always be green at the Grace Christian Academy baseball field.
The school showed off its new artificial playing surface on Wednesday.
"We're very excited about this field for a number of different reasons," said head baseball coach Mitchell Turner.
"Number one, this was never on my mind when I came here as a coach. Our athletic director brought me this idea and we jumped into it. We raised money from private donors and kids families. And then it happened."
The estimated cost to install the artificial surface is $175,000. None of the money came from the school's budget.
The Rams have had issues playing baseball in recent years due to weather. The field is located in a watershed area and the school says the team only played five home games in 2013.
The field will make it's debut on March 13 when the Rams host CAK.
