SEYMOUR (WATE) - A Sevier County home was left a complete loss after a fire broke out at the residence Wednesday evening.

Officials say that fire broke out at a home on Staghorn Lane in Seymour just before 4 p.m.

It took volunteer firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the blaze. Crews told 6 News the delay was due to the home being on a hill, causing it to take them longer than usual to get fire hoses to the property.

The family and their pets were able to make it out of the home safely. The American Red Cross is assisting them while they are displaced.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
