2 kids injured in Cocke Co. crash, driver may face charges

COSBY (WATE) - A Cocke County woman may face charges after a single vehicle crash in which two children were injured.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by Kayla Gillespie, 31, went out of control in a curve on Highway 321 Northbound around 8:20 a.m.

The car ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. The impact caused the vehicle to rotate 180 degrees clockwise and came to rest facing south in the northbound lanes.

Gillespie, an 11-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl were all injured. None of them were wearing seat belts.

Gillespie and the girl were taken to UT Medical Center by ambulance, while the boy was airlifted to the hospital.

Officials say possible charges are pending against Gillespie.
