TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WATE) - The speculation about Nick Saban's coaching future can end-- the Alabama head coach is staying in Tuscaloosa.
The University of Alabama announced on Twitter on Friday night that Saban and the school have agreed to a new long-term contract extension.
Saban has been the center of speculation as a possible replacement for Mack Brown at Texas.
Brown, a Tennessee native, has coached the Longhorns for sixteen seasons, but has been under fire and rumored to be on his way out.
On Thursday, Brown said there was no change in his status as head coach at Texas and he reportedly did not address his job status at a team banquet on Friday.
All this is now moot for Saban who is already the highest paid coach in college football at more than $5.6 million per year.
The University of Alabama did not release details of the contract extension.
