KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The clouds never really broke up across the area on Sunday which kept temperatures on the chilly side, but there will be a "slight" warm up through the work week.

We will see a few breaks in the clouds overnight as lows drop down into the 20s in most areas. The clouds should break up a little more on Monday, plus we will see an increasing southerly wind which should help push temperatures up a little closer to seasonal averages.

A "dry" cold front will clip the region Tuesday, which means we won't see any precipitation, but rather just a few clouds and a brisk southerly wind once again. It doesn't really have much of an effect on our weather as highs will continue to climb to above-average levels for the second half of the week.

In fact, we should see highs in the upper 50s-lower 60s Thursday though the weekend. That said, there will be a rather potent cold front that for now is poised to move into the area late Friday through Sunday. It will spread numerous showers and possibly even a few rumbles on thunder across the region with the possibility of some heavier downpours.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy and chilly. Low: 28°.

Monday: Decreasing clouds, breezy and closer-to-average. High: 49°.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy and breezy again. High: 52°.
