Powell Middle School teacher suffers minor injuries after being hit by car

POWELL (WATE) - A Powell Middle School teacher was struck by a vehicle in the school's parking lot Monday afternoon, but was not seriously injured.

According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, a basketball coach from Karns Middle School was driving at the front entrance to the Powell Middle School parking lot just before 4 p.m.

Teacher Michelle Ranvek, 38, thought he had stopped to let her walk in front of his vehicle, but the coach did not see Ranvek and his vehicle rolled onto her. His right front bumper struck Ranvek.

Rural/Metro responded and examined Ranvek on the scene. She refused transportation to the hospital, saying she would seek treatment for minor injuries with her personal physician.

No charges or citations were issued.
