ALCOA (WATE) - A large water main break disrupted traffic and left some customers without running water in Alcoa Thursday.

Officials told 6 News the 18-inch break happened early Thursday on East Lincoln Road near Aluminum Avenue.

Repair crews initially thought the problem would be resolved by noon, but they experienced unavoidable setbacks.

Crews now expect the repair to be completed and service restored between midnight and 2 a.m. Friday morning.

Temporary service has been restored to the Oldfield community, but several areas remain without water service including the east side of Hall Road between Lincoln Road and the Maryville city limit and Lincoln Road between Everett High Road and Calderwood Street.

Some other Alcoa customers may experience low water pressure.
