MORRISTOWN (WATE) - Hamblen County sheriff's deputies arrested a woman Wednesday night accused of bringing contraband to the county jail.

Heather Marie Atkins, 21, is charged with three counts of possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a legend drug.

Officials say Atkins came to the Hamblen County Jail to bring clothing to an inmate. Corrections officers immediately noticed something was amiss.

They suspected Atkins was attempting to bring contraband into the facility and conducted a search of her vehicle.

Deputies found a number of prescription pills including 14 Roxycodone, one Opana, four morphine, two suboxone, eight prescription-strength ibuprofen and several baggies.

Suspected drug proceeds of $1,945 were also found in the vehicle.

Hamblen County Narcotics Division will continue investigating Atkins for introduction of illegal drugs into a penal facility based on TBI lab findings.

Atkins is currently being held in the Hamblen County Jail on $10,000 bond.
