Selby noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and obtained all four students for investigation. Selby seized several cell phones, drug paraphernalia, controlled substances, a hatchet and a ski mask from the vehicle.

One of the juveniles was arrested for resisting arrest or search. The other two were taken to the high school's administrative offices and released to school officials who contacted the parents and referred the incident for disciplinary action.
