POWELL (WATE) - The Powell community is raising money for a family affected by tragedy.

The father of a Powell Middle School basketball player, Rubin Coffey, was killed in a car accident.

Saturday, Powell middle and high schools are hosting basketball games where community members are invited to make a monetary donation for the family.

Trey Coffey is playing in one of those games Saturday morning. He says he's going to play for his dad.

"Thinking about my dad in heaven just watching down over me. I know he's going to be watching me, so I know I can play good for him," Coffey said.

Games start at 9 a.m. Saturday and go until 4 p.m. You can make a donation at either Powell middle or high school gyms.

The Coffey family also has a website set up where you can donate.
