SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - A Sevier County family has received a big donation to help their daughter get around easier.

MaKayla Glenn, 8, was born with cerebral palsy. She has always been in a wheelchair, and her family says as she has gotten older, it has become difficult to transport her.

The family said a new van would cost $40,000, but they were trying to raise $10,000 for a new one.

That's why the Smoky Mountain Opry stepped in. Show-goers purchased candles, and proceeds from the sales went toward MaKayla and her family.

The Glenn family was presented with a $9,500 check Saturday.

More than $3,700 has also been raised through MaKayla's GoFundMe page.
