KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A truck driver is accused of kidnapping and raping a woman at a West Knox County truck stop.

Joseph Godsey, 36, is charged with aggravated rape, especially aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated assault.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says the victim, who had a previous relationship with Godsey, agreed to meet him at a truck stop on Lovell Road because he owed her money.

She told deputies she got into Godsey's tractor trailer to talk, but he forced her into the sleeper cab, duct taped her mouth and ankles, and raped her.

After she then broke free from the duct tape, she said Godsey then started beating her in the head with a hammer saying he was going to kill her.

She says he then pulled out a knife, cutting her on the arm and leg, and stabbing her in the neck.

The victim managed to get away and drive herself to the hospital.
