KNOXVILLE (WATE) -  As people prepare to ring in the new year, local businesses are ringing in quite a bit of business.

New Year's Eve is a night of celebration and that means a big boost for bars, liquor stores and firework stands across the area.

"We've had quite a few people coming in today," said Michael Carpenter of Gorilla Fireworks in Sevierville.

After Fourth of July, New Year's is the second busiest holiday for those in the fireworks business and Gorilla Fireworks is offering the last minute shoppers a bang for their buck.

"We have a lot of buy one get one frees, and we offer free fireworks just for coming in. Tomorrow will be the busiest day for sure," Carpenter said.

And they're not the only one offering deals to help celebrators save, down in the Old City a wrist band deal hopes to lure even more crowds for one of the biggest bar nights of the year.

"Everybody can get into all our venues for $10 if you purchase your ticket in advance online or at the door they're $15," explained Allison Rufin, marketing manager for Carleo Entertainment.

The New Year's Eve deal will get you into all eight of their venues including, NV, The Bowery, Hanna's Old City, The Wagon Wheel, Southboud, Sky Box, Davinci's and Lil' Vinnies.

"We don't want people to have to pay so much for a cover and feel like they have to stay at one of our venues," Rufin explained.

There will be entertainment at each of the bars and a buffet at Southbound. They've already sold several hundred tickets and they're expecting thousands of partiers to fill the streets of old city.

"This is supposed to be our busiest night of the year," she said.

It won't just be busy night for the bars, but also for those taking people home. To make things easier, Carleo Entertainment is setting up a cab stand behind Southbound.

"It's something we wanted to do to increase safety in the Old City, everyone's going to have a good time and we don't want people to have to worry about getting home," said Ruffin.
