PIGEON FORGE (WATE) - The Island in Pigeon Forge is unveiling its new $3 million fountain to help ring in 2014.

Since opening, The Island has already wowed crowds with attractions like the $10 million Ferris Wheel, but this New Year's Eve it's all about the new Island Fountain.

"It has over 95 jets that shoot anywhere from 30 feet to 60 feet," said Island Marketing Representative Summer Wilson. "It's fully synchronized to music, lights and colors as well so it's quite an impressive thing to see."

It will make its public debut New Year's Eve at midnight with short previews throughout the night.

"It's something new and it's something different and that's what we try to do here at the Island is to bring something new to the people that not only live in the area, but that come here to vacation," said Wilson. "We want to give them something they've never done before."

It's one of the things that The Island says will help set its celebration apart from the others.

"I think one thing that we are trying to concentrate on is that it's a good atmosphere for the entire family," said Wilson. "So not only will we have activities for the adults to do, we will also have plenty for the children to do."

Knoxville band Fairview Union will also play along with a DJ, and the evening will culminate with a countdown and fireworks display behind the Ferris Wheel to help ring in 2014.

They were selling midnight rides on the Ferris Wheel for $300, but they sold out quickly.

The Island is free to the public. For more on their activities, click here.
