Temps to drop rapidly Thursday night, snow showers possible

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Temperatures drop rapidly tonight as the moisture moves out but snow showers are still possible. Knoxville and the southern valley may see a trace or slightly more over ridge tops, while plateau counties may get an inch or so. 

Best snowfall is expected over the mountains where 3 to 6 inches is possible. 

A WINTER STORM WARNING is valid tonight for the high mountains.

Most areas stay below freezing Friday followed by warmer air this weekend. 

Another cold snap is expected by Monday, bringing some of the coldest air in years.
