TROY, OHIO (WATE) - A former youth soccer coach in Ohio faces sexual battery charges in a case with ties to Knoxville.

Jeffrey Walden, 45, was indicted by a grand jury in Miami County, Ohio last month on multiple counts of sexual battery of a minor by an authority figure.

A detective with the Troy, Ohio Police Department told 6 News that Walden began a sexual relationship with a female player when she was 15 years old.

The alleged relationship began in 2007 and continued for several years.

The investigator says the girl moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee and Walden moved here as well.

Walden allegedly confessed the relationship when questioned by police.

It's not clear if Walden coached any young people in Knoxville.

Walden is set for a pre-trial hearing on Monday.
