KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The 6 Storm Team expects bitterly cold and windy conditions Monday. Temperatures will fall today with a morning high in the mid 20s, and mid-afternoon temperatures in the mid-teens. It's also windy with a Wind Chill Advisory, area-wide, until noon on Tuesday.
Monday afternoon's wind chill will be between -4 and 6 degrees. We will also have some flurries around at times, but most of them are moving out to the east. Temperatures continue to plummet Monday night with lows near zero! The wind keeps blowing with overnight wind chill values as low as -12 degrees in the valley and even colder in the higher elevations.
Tuesday isn't much better. We will see sunshine, but the afternoon high is only 17 degrees. The overnight low Tuesday night is 11 before we finally warm back to above freezing by Wednesday afternoon. We are in the midst of 60+ hours of below freezing temperatures along with some of the coldest overnight lows we have seen in over 15 years.
