Temps plummet Monday; wind, flurries expected


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Temperatures fall today with a morning high in the mid 20s, and mid-afternoon temps in the mid-teens. It's also windy with a Wind Chill Advisory, area-wide, until NOON on Tuesday.

The afternoon wind chill will be between -4 and 6 degrees. We will also have some flurries around at times, but most of them are moving out to the east.

Temperatures continue to plummet tonight with lows near zero. The wind keeps blowing with overnight wind chill values as low as -12 in the valley. Please, bring pets indoors today and tonight and check on loved ones.

Tuesday isn't much better. We will see sunshine, but the afternoon high is only 17 degrees. The overnight low Tuesday night is 11 before we finally warm back to above freezing by Wednesday afternoon. We are in the midst of 60 plus hours of below freezing temperatures along with some of the coldest overnight lows we have seen in over 15 years.

TODAY: A.M. Flurries. Bitterly Cold and Windy. Temps Falling to 15 by 3pm, Wind Chill of 6.

TONIGHT: Clearing Skies, Windy, Bitterly Cold. Low: 2, Wind Chill -9

TUESDAY: Sunny, Still Cold. High: 17
