KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Frozen pipes led to some water damage at a Bearden antique shop Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say a sprinkler line had frozen and burst at Bearden Antique Mall, 310 Mohican Drive, just before 2 p.m., causing the ceiling to partially collapse.

Knoxville Fire Department spokesman D.J. Corcoran says firefighters said the drop ceiling inside had fallen due to the weight of the water soaked tiles.

This caused the building's fire alarm to go off. Corcoran says the fire department received nearly 30 calls of businesses' fire alarms being activated due to similar problems.

Several homeowners have also called the fire department for frozen and burst pipes. Those calls are being direct to the Knoxville Utilities Board.
