BEAN STATION, TN (WJHL) - An elderly man in a medical crisis drove on the wrong side of an East Tennessee road for several minutes Thursday morning, at one point forcing a school bus to swerve to avoid a crash.

Bean Station Police Chief Bryce Justice told WATE-TV that a north-bound pick-up truck drove onto the southbound side of Highway 25E in Bean Station just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday and continued on the wrong side of the road for several miles.

Jaida Hopkins captured it on a cell phone camera.

Bean State Police tried to stop the truck three times.  Eventually, several police cars - including Chief Justice's - boxed in the truck.  An officer broke out the glass and put the truck into park.

Chief Bryce said the driver was unresponsive and had to be pulled from the truck.

Turns out, the elderly man had a medical problem.  He was treated and released from a nearby hospital into the care of a family member, Chief Justice told WATE-TV.
