KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The thaw
has been nice and it should continue through the weekend. The problem is, once
again, it looks like we will see some rain over the weekend.
A strong cold
front will roll across the region late tonight through early Saturday spreading
numerous showers, and possibly even a few rumbles of thunder, across the entire
area. The wind could be very strong for areas along the Foothills and in the
Smokies, especially above 3,000 feet, where the gusts could be between 40 to 60mph or more.
The rain moves out of our area by early afternoon and the winds will die down
leading to a mostly sunny and pleasant Sunday for most.
Another quick moving
system clips our area late Monday into Tuesday spreading additional rain
showers that could end as some flurries or light snow early Tuesday for higher
The pattern looks to remain rather active with additional cold
air arriving Wednesday with yet another chance for some light snow or flurries
across the region.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, breezy and mild with
rain showers developing late (80% coverage). Low: 46°.
Saturday: Rain (possibly as few rumbles) and
gusty winds likely through midday (100% coverage), then variably cloudy through
the afternoon. High: 58°.
