Rain moves in Monday

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Monday afternoon brings scattered rain showers with highs in the low 50s. Rain keeps on going tonight with a low of 38 degrees.

Tuesday is a dry day, and it will be a nice one.

Sunshine abounds with highs in the low 50s. However, big changes arrive overnight Tuesday night.

Temperatures drop after midnight, and snow moves in by early Wednesday morning.

Right now, it does look like we could see light accumulations area-wide. The valley is looking at a dusting up to a half inch. The plateau may get an inch with the tops of the mountains getting 3 to 6 inches of snow on Wednesday morning.

In addition, it's going to be cold. We'll hit our high of 36 degrees just after midnight Tuesday morning with temperatures falling into the upper 20s by Wednesday afternoon. It's also going to be windy with wind chill temperatures in the teens.

TODAY: Afternoon Scattered Rain. 70%. High: 52

TONIGHT: Scattered Rain. 90%. Low: 38

TUESDAY: Partly Cloudy. High: 53
