KNOXVILLE (WATE) - There is some concern over a tree that seems to be dangling over a North Knox County highway.

6 News viewer Rhonda contacted us via email and Facebook saying: "There is a downed tree on Clinton Highway in a field directly across form the airplane gas station they remodeled. It looks like it could fall if the field gets any wetter from all this rain. I am trying to prevent an accident that will happen when this huge tree will roll onto Clinton Highway causing an accident."

We wanted to take a look at the area along Clinton Highway to which Rhonda is referring.

We saw that someone had cut the tree previously, but we can also understand the concern over whether or not this tree could eventually impact traffic along Clinton Highway.

We should also note we noticed a number of downed trees, but one in particular has some motorists concerned.

The location is just past the shopping centers near the intersection of Clinton Highway and Callahan Drive.

We sent along your concerns to TDOT. They in turn sent a crew out Monday to take a closer look. We're told the plan is to have a crew return and cut the tree back even more so that it is clear of posing any danger to traffic.

As always, we'll follow up.
