Wednesday: Breezy and colder with a light rain to snow mix (30% coverage). Little if any accumulation is expected except across the lower elevation areas. High: 38°.
Tonight: Partly cloudy and colder. Low: 20°.
Thursday: A mix of sun and clouds. High: 41°.
A fast moving clipper system will rotate through the region today, bringing another shot of
colder air along with some patchy light rain mixed with some light snow.
Temperatures will fall from the lower 40s early this morning in the pre-dawn
hours, into the 30s during the day.
It still appears as though the opportunities
for accumulating snow will be rather low across our area, with the exception of
the higher elevations of the Smokies and along the S.W. Virginia/S.E. Kentucky
border, where up to a few inches could fall.
There could be a few areas that could see some patchy slick spots early Wednesday morning, but that will be the
exception rather than the rule.
Clouds will break up a bit through the evening
hours and we should see some sunshine return Thursday before another clipper system rotates through during the afternoon/evening hours on Friday.
That system could bring another shot of cold air and some light snow, leading to a quieter weekend with below-average temperatures.
