JACKSBORO (WATE) - Campbell County sheriff's deputies are searching for the culprits responsible for vandalism discovered at the high school's field house. Officers say thousands of dollars in damage was done sometime over the weekend.

"We have field paint and they used it to paint the jerseys, uniforms and chairs. They splattered white paint all over our uniforms," said head football coach Justin Price.

The damage was discovered Monday morning.

"One vulgar word they wrote on the floor and some obscene gestures," he said.

Coach Price can't say who would have done this or why.

"This was the most successful season we've had here in 38 years of football," he said.

The players, who just started their off-season training, are taking the vandalism hard.

"It made me pretty mad because we worked so hard for the stuff and raised so much money to get it and somebody just comes up here and destroys it," said senior Nick Bailey.

Coach Price says this is just another hurdle that will bring the team closer together.

"We're not going to let it dampen our spirits and what we've been able to accomplish," he said.

Coach Price believes insurance money should replace all of the damaged jerseys and equipment.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office says it is looking at several suspects in this case and hope to make an arrest soon.
