MADISONVILLE (WATE) - A dog once left for dead on the side of the road now has a place to call home.

The Monroe County Animal Shelter says Missy, an eight-year-old Rottweiler mix, was adopted on Saturday.

Missy was found in November 2013 with a gunshot wound to her eye. The shelter took her in, and following a 6 News report on the dog, says they became flooded with callers interested in adopting Missy.

The shelter contacted 6 News to tell us that Missy's new owners had arrived in Madisonville from Ohio Saturday afternoon to take her to her new home.

The shelter says it was a perfect match.
