SEYMOUR (WATE) - Seymour volunteer firefighters were faced with battling a brush fire Monday night.

They say the blaze broke out near Bays Mountain Road in South Knoxville around 4:45 p.m.

Firefighters say a home and a large propane tank were being threatened by a matter of feet, but they brought the fire under control Monday evening.

The brush fire burned an estimated 3.5 to 4 acres.

One man said he spoke with a neighbor who admitted to accidentally starting the fire.

"He was burning trash and he had a barrel and he had to use the bathroom, so he went in the house and by the time he came out it had already got out of hand and he made the call to 911," neighbor Randy Isbell said.

The forestry service was called in with a bulldozer to clean up after the fire. Firefighters said they expect weather conditions would also help put out the flames.
