Two company expansions to bring nearly 200 jobs to Morristown

MORRISTOWN (WATE) - Expansions by automotive supplier OTICS USA, Inc. and consumer product giant Colgate-Palmolive will bring nearly 200 new jobs to the Morristown area.

Marshall Ramsey, President of the Morristown Chamber of Commerce, says OTICS USA announced plans Wednesday for a $106 million dollar expansion of its current Morristown facility.

The company was just awarded a new engine product from Toyota which will require 96,000 additional square feet of manufacturing space and approximately 100 new jobs over the next three years.

Meanwhile, Colgate-Palmolive has announced it will build a new manufacturing plant in Morristown to produce oral care products.

The company plans to invest $25 million in manufacturing equipment and building and infrastructure improvements, creating 75 new jobs in Hamblen County.

Colgate-Palmolive plans to build a new standalone facility next to its current Colgate Total toothpaste plant which located to Morristown in 2008.

Construction of the new facility will begin this year with an opening date set for 2015.

The 75 new jobs will mostly be dedicated to general light manufacturing including line operators, mechanical and electrical, and warehouse.
