KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knoxville Fire Department was busy extinguishing house fires Friday morning, including one in West Knoxville.

Crews responded to the scene around 3:40 a.m. on the 6600 block of Nightingale Lane.

Firefighters say they contained fire damage to the first floor of the home near a fireplace.

An adult, two children and several pets escaped the blaze.  The Red Cross will be providing them with temporary placement.

Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.

KFD responded to another fire early Friday morning on Atlantic Avenue.
