Man killed after assaulting female in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville police said a 23-year-old man died after being shot during an altercation Friday night. 

Police said the incident occurred just before 8 p.m. at a residence at 5212 Chesapeake Road.

Freddie Locks, 23, of 4042 Village Drive, assaulted a female at the residence during the altercation, police said. Harold Allen confronted Lock before retrieving a shotgun from inside the home.

Allen shot Locks, fatally wounding him, police said.

Allen has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Cumberland County Jail without bond.
