JELLICO (WATE) - The interstate and the main roads were cleared quickly, but back roads remained icy in Campbell County on Saturday.

Icy road conditions in Jellico kept Barbara McNealy inside her home all day.

"We looked out, and it was all white. It just happened so fast, but that's the way it is in Tennessee," McNealy said.

The main roads in Campbell County were treated, but side roads were not and caused drivers the most problems.

Campbell County resident Todd Wilkens said his friends could not make it up his driveway Saturday night.  Wilkens had to use his four wheel drive vehicle to pick them up.

"I got caught in the snow so I ended up parking it halfway home, just actually went back this evening to get it after the roads cleared up because I couldn't get home in that. I had to take the other car that was all wheel drive to get it," Wilkens said.

The snow is expected to stick on the ground for the weekend because of bitterly cold temperatures.

A TDOT spokesman says they have a crew of about 300 people salting the state roads and there's no major problems to report as of Saturday evening.

TDOT does offer a free app with updated road conditions and resources on their website for winter travel.
