KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knox County store clerk turned the tables on a would-be-robber and sent the suspect fleeing Sunday night.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says the attempted armed robbery happened around 8:45 p.m. at the Sunoco, Ebenezer Market located on the 600 block of Ebenezer Road.

Deputies say the suspect entered the store, insinuated he had a weapon and demanded cash from the register.

Authorities say that's when the clerk pulled out a gun in self-defense, and the suspect fled from the store.

The KCSO says the suspect was wearing a white face mask, a dark sweatshirt, grey sweatpants and black shoes. He is 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with a thin build and is approximately 18 to 25-years-old.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the KCSO at (865) 215-2243.
