KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Many drivers found out firsthand Tuesday just how quickly road conditions can became treacherous.

Road crews battled the snow and ice, but that became difficult as the snow kept coming down and temperatures dropped.

One local towing company was slammed with calls from people stuck in the snow.

They say there isn't really a game plan for this kind of weather. It's just a lot of long hours and overtime.

Some drivers were left waiting up to four hours to be rescued by tow trucks.

The tow company we spoke with said the number of calls they receive goes up ten times on a snow day. They also said a day like this is welcome because it breaks up the monotony of a normal work day.
