KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Some people who had to get out for work this morning had trouble with the snow in their own driveways and neighborhoods.

In one West Knoxville neighborhood, the only cleared driveway at 8 a.m. belonged to a couple originally from Russia.

"When I was a kid going to school, the snow was up to my chest, so this is really nothing," said Mark Zelmanovich.

He teaches at UT and wanted to get an early start to be sure he could make it into work.

"We love snow," he said.

Just a few miles away, another immigrant was also trying to shovel out.

"It's cold!" said Martin Gathimbi, who came to Tennessee eight years ago from Kenya. "I've never seen anything like this before."

His car got stuck in the driveway, but he was determined to get it out. Despite the work, Martin is happy to see this much snow.

"It's fun," he said.
