KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Some of those who had to get out early this morning stopped at the Waffle House on Cedar Bluff for coffee or a bite to eat before work.

"I thought I would brave the elements and try to get out a little early. I enjoy the snow and I just wanted to be out having fun this morning before I got to work," said Michele Wilson, who works at the UT Vet School. "It's a hospital. Animals come in on emergency and there are patients to be seen, so I'm up and about and ready to go."

Other customers were just grateful to have gotten out of their neighborhoods safely.

"It wasn't too bad this morning, but there's definitely slick spots out there. I took it nice and slow," said Glenn Schmidt.

That's advice endorsed by Eddie Roberts, who drives a big rig to California every week.

"I'm waiting to see if I get to go to work this morning or not," he said.

Bad weather, Roberts says, bothers him more now than when he was younger.

"Drive slow and watch out for the other guy," he said.
