CROSSVILLE (WATE) - The case is dismissed against a Cumberland County parent arrested after trying to pick his kids up from school.

Jim Howe posted a video to YouTube last November showing a confrontation with a school resource officer at South Cumberland Elementary.

Howe didn't want to wait in a long line of traffic, so he tried to pick them up on foot. He was told students who walk must wait until all other students are picked up.

The video went viral, feeding into a national debate about government overreach.

Howe was charged with disorderly conduct after the incident. The charges were dismissed Thursday.
