GATLINBURG (WATE) – Three people have been injured after a gas leak caused an explosion in Gatlinburg Saturday, according to Gatlinburg Public Information Officer Marci Claude.

Police received a call at 7:15 p.m. to the Tree Tops Resort, which is located on Sherman Clabo Road.

A building suffered structural damage, but firefighters say they were able to extinguish it shortly after arrival.

LIFESTAR flew one person to the hospital, Claude said. Two others were transported by ambulance.

Officials have not released the extent of their injuries, but noted that all three victims were alert and conscious upon leaving the incident scene.

The resort was able to relocate everyone staying in the complex into other units.
