Campbell County teacher charged in deadly shooting arraigned

JELLICO (WATE) - A Campbell County teacher charged with shooting her fiance to death in what authorities are calling an alcohol-fueled fight was arraigned Monday morning.

Lisa Elliott, 47, is charged with criminal homicide. Officials say she is accused of shooting her fiance, 53-year-old Larry Champlin, to death.

Elliott's daughter told 6 News the couple had been drinking that night, and that her mother acted in self defense.

Elliott is a special education teacher at Jellico High School.

She was ordered held on $150,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 11.
