KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two Knox County schools are working together to paint a mural. Students from Austin East High School started painting the side of Beaumont Elementary Thursday after a few months of planning.

School officials say the students are using an artist from Knoxville for inspiration.

"They studied the artist Beauford Delaney, who was actually a Knoxville native, a Harlem renaissance artist. He went to Austin High School, which was the all-black school at the time, and he went on to become a Harlem Renaissance artist in New York," said elementary art educator Allison Pickett.

The mural should be finished within the next few weeks.
