KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knoxville American Heart Association is celebrating 11 years of saving women's lives through Friday's "Go Red for Women" movement.

Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett will recognize National Wear Red Day by speaking at the annual Mayoral Proclamation at Physician's Regional Medical Center at 2 p.m.

The American Heart Association will provide educational booths and blood pressure screenings.

Heart disease remains the number one killer among women.

The Go Red for Women movement was designed to spread awareness and encourage women to focus on their heart health.

The Knoxville Go Red for Women campaign is nationally sponsored by Macy's and locally sponsored by Tennova Healthcare.

For more information about the movement, visit the Go Red for Women website.
